Its been a tough time. On September 9, about 6PM, just when Nicholas turns 8 months! He has a febrile seizure! What happen! The night before his body temperature was up a bit..to 102.8! So I took his clothes off and gave him some ibuprofen. Called the doctor at 7AM and he said to bring him in for evaluation at 9:30, everything was fine. No ear infection, no throat infection, he seem fine, I seem like a total liar. Got home around noon. At 5:30, everything seem normal, I went out to feed the dogs, come back in the house 5 minutes later...I had him in the walker earlier and he was playing with Audrey, I don't remember what he was doing when I left the house, I don't remember....but when I came inside, he was 'relaxed' with his head resting on the seat of the walker, I tip top over to see if he was sleeping. HE WAS BLUE, eyes half open and rolled up, I could only see white through his eye lids! I rushed over and picked him up, as limp as a doll, I got worried, walked to the kitchen to get the phone as I try to wake him. Almost called 911, but his color came back and his eyes open (looking up to the right). I calm a bit, he was shaking, and I called the doctor's answering service. Dr. Tan called back a minute or two later, and we went over to his office, he was still there at 6pm!
Dr. Tan gave Nicholas two injections, one steroid and one antibiotic. And he inserted a suppository in to reduce his fever. Then we hung around there for another hour or so, got home around 9PM. Had the worst experience ever with that!
Through the night I check and check on him, non stop, even called Dr. Tan at 12:30AM! His temperature had drop..drop too low for me...96.2. He was cold. I put more clothes on him, then a blanket, he would not warm up!! I held him, he was still cold!! I was sooooo worried. Doctor reassure that he is fine, just keep checking his temperature. I stayed at 96.2 all night, all morning...finally went up to 96.8 after he woke up at 8AM.
This tops my list of worst days ever and let it be there forever. I don't want another day to top that.
