Audrey was created on November 23, 2004. She's totally adorable and amazing. She arrived one week earlier than expected and it is a story in itself. On August 7th, William said it would be nice if she was born on the 8th, makes it easy to remember her birthday. We work up on the 8th and nothing special was happening, so we went over to my grandparents house to play Mahjong, my grandma (Ma Fong) loves to play the game, so we did, I think I even won a few bucks, don't remember exactly. By the time we got home it was past midnight and I decide to put the stroller together. I pushed the box into the family room from the garage, William saw what I was doing and rushed to come help me, just as he grab the box from my hand, he knocked the box over and the corner of the box scrap my belly, right under my belly button. Well after faking some pain, he saw blood on the carpet and thought I was bleeding. After checking that I was not the one bleeding, we realize he has hit his toe and that was bleeding! After getting the stroller and carseat assembled, we went to bed.
August 9th, 2005~ William was downstairs doing stuff when I awaken. I heard a pop (thought I hit something or was still dreaming) and had to use the toilet really bad, as I rushed to the bathroom I realized I had a very full bladder...but I could not control the flow of my urine which I usually can do. I yelled for William and he rushed up to see me, I asked if that was my water bag, like he would know! So he went to get the phone and we called the doctor's office, they suggested we go to the hospital. I wanted to take a shower first, but he would allow it. We got to West Valley Hospital at about 2:30PM, after triage and confirmation of my labor, I was admitted and transfer to a room.
The Delivery~From about 3:00PM to 8:00PM I was fine, mild cramps, nothing I cannot handle. We made a bunch of phone calls, my mom, William's mom, my aunt Kom, she and Elaine even came to visit me, everything was under control. Just as I thought I was doing good I felt the contractions, really felt them! When I was transfer to the patient room, an Indian woman who's an anesthesiologist came and offer the epidural, I rejected and she was upset and told me that 95% of women get it, and I should too. I insisted I don't want it and told her I am part of the 5% that don't need it. I kept that stand even when the contractions came on super powerful, nothing I cannot handle! Then I felt my hip bones pulling apart, I guess my body was getting ready for the baby to come out. Took some pain killer through my IV to relieve some of the pain but I fell asleep from it too. When I woke up it was almost midnight, I had slept almost 4 hours, I guess the pain killer wore off. My cervix went from 1cm to 4cm! Yeah! Just 6cm more to go! Requested for some more pain killer, took the nurse an hour to get it to me, but we got it, and again I fell asleep. Around 4AM, my hips were tearing me up again, the nurse keep urging me to get the epidural and I keep saying "NO." I was at 8cm, still not ready for the delivery yet, but Audrey was under stress, her heart rate had gone up to over 240 and I was warn that if it gets that high again, I might need an emergency C-section. So I calm myself down and did some deep breathing exercises, her heart rate came back down to normal and as 5:00AM got closer, I felt that the baby was going to come out soon. We called the nurse and she said she called the doctor. Dr. Johnson was on call, he arrived at about 5:20AM, as he got ready I felt the baby pushing out. The nurse shouted at me and told me not to push yet, but the doctor said she is doing fine, let her do what she needs to do, its natural. I couldn't stop, Audrey was coming out on her own. Dr. Johnson got down to check me out and coached me to push and hold my breathe for a count of 10, I held it for 15. Rested for a 10 seconds or so, my next contraction came and Audrey was super ready to come out, on this count 10 the crown of her head was showing! Third push and her head came out! By 5:25AM, Dr. Johnson was holding her and crimp her belly cord, which William had cut off. OH, William....such a sport, he was standing to my left and holding my hand the entire time, we forgot the tripod, so didn't video tape the event. Dr. Johnson wrapped Audrey up in a towel and placed her on my belly as he went to take care of my 4th DEGREE TEARS! In my arms is the sweetie that was in my belly for the past eight and half months! After admiring her for a few minutes, the nurse took her to do their usual business. She's 6 pound 12.2 ounces at 19.5 inches with her head circumference of 13.25 inches and chest circumference of 12.5 inches.
